Back in 1989 the fiancé, now wife, and I decided that we'd like to travel up to and around Scotland by train. This was before the days when she had Staff Travel Passes. While on the trip we'd stop off in Aviemore to see a friend of mine that I used to work with at Waterloo who now lived in Aviemore. And so the trip began ...
All good things must come to an end and today was the last day and our return home. I remember being told there was a problem on the line to Glasgow Queen Street so we would have to go either via the ECML or get a train to Carstairs and down the WCML. We chose the later.
1C66 12:03 Edinburgh to Carstairs was 107732 [consist: 51992, 59800, 52026].
We had a tight connection at Carstair to catch the
1M04 12:46 Glasgow Central to Euston (Carstairs to Euston) 87031.
Arriving in London at 18:02 we headed out way to Victoria. She went on home to her parents and I went home to mine.
