Additional: We stayed at the Premier Inn on West Nile Street, and it was really nice there and one I would recommend. After we had had a meal in the Hard Rock Cafe and a bit of a walk around Glasgow we walked to the Catholic Cathedral and a couple of shops on Union Street (not the best street in the city). Last time I was in Glasgow it was a flying visit with my mate Colin and we were accosted by a couple of drunks. This time it seems that the city has cleaned up it's reputation. I was surprised to see a lot of young ladies (loose term here) sporting very short skirts, low cut tops and sky high stiletto heels. Now as a man, this is quite nice, but as a Dad, I was thinking 'My daughter isn't going to dress like that' LOL.
The main concourse at Central hasn't changed much; it still has the lovely dark wood panelling, yes the shops have changed, but overall it's still a nice station.
We had discussed on the train about a day trip to Edinburgh and decided that we would do it on the Sunday. I had already sorted train times out back in London, so it was just a case of setting the alarms and getting breakfast before setting off to Queen Street station the next morning.
