I can recommend the left luggage place near the Railway Institute / Europcar hire at the station. It is about a 5 minute walk from the station doors. After depositing the case we headed in to town did a bit of shopping and ended up in the Cross Keys pub which sells Mortimer's English Berry cider. It was here I was told they would be hitting multiple shops and said go to the station. Immediately my brain screamed 'CLASS 68 HAULAGE'. A quick look at RTT and the plan was in place.

We stayed at the Travelodge York Central. We had previously stayed at one in Middlesbrough in 2020 which was nice. The one in Stratford Upon Avon was awful with rude staff and poor service. The York Central one was lovely and it's about a 30 minute walk from the station and the bonus is ... it's on top of a Wetherspoons, so you can guess where we had breakfast next day.
