Well it's a Friday and after a very long break due to work, strikes and family issues I took to the rails again for an 'after work unit bash'. I had a look through the allocations and tried to work out if the Victoria to Bromley and back trip would give me a lot of winners, alas it gave me two out of a possible four. So then it was a look at a round trip to Hither Green. This gave me a lot more.
First off it was down to East Croydon from Selhurst on 2J35 Lonfon Bridge to East Croydon 377618 (non winner).
9S32 Brighton the Cambridge was running 19 minutes late which meant I was able to cross the station and catch 700120 (non winner).
Down in to the concrete dungeon and over to platform 7 to catch 2N78 Cahring Cross to Gravesend. 465018, 465184, 466020 all winners and all cleared for 5 miles.
At Hither Green as the train pulled in 6Y42 Hoo Juntion Up Year to Eastleigh East Yard passed us with a lovely tripple header formed of 66790, 66063, 66183. Three locos and three diferent liveries. Crossing over platforms, I had a short wait for 2F45 Orpington to Cannon Street, 376017, 376012 (both winners and both cleared for 5 miles).
With Thameslink services gone to pot, I went over to to platform 14 and caught 2J45 London Bridge to East Croydon 377626 doen to Selhurst. Like many things in life not everything goes to plan and at Thornton Heath someone had an accident alighting from the train and cost us 20 minutes delay in to Selhurst. On the positive side the train terminated there on platform and did the cross over from the down slow to the up slow just north of the station, sadly I have done both of these crossovers before.
