Eastleigh: 23rd September 2023

A friend of mine in the South West told me about Eastleigh tours. All summer things got in the way for a visit until yesterday.
Bold = Haulage, Red = Winner, All others are sightings.

A God awful alarm clock got me awake to get a train up to Clapham.
2B03 Selhurst to Clapham Junction 377435, 377442 non winners [6m 60ch]
A quick ticket purchase an back to platform 9 for my train
1W53 Clapham Junction to Eastleigh 450080, 450089 non winners [69m 60ch] I had some time to kill at Eastleigh so I took a few photos of hte locos stabled by the station including two locos that were ex-works 59003 respendant in GBRF livery and 66303.
I wasn't sure of the location of the entry gates so I left the station and took a slow walk along Campbell Road. I found rather amusing that the Arriva depot there has a "No Rail Enthusiats" sign. Rther ironic as there isn't anything there as far as I am aware.
I spent a lovely hour on the Campbell Road bridge watching the trains and planes go by. As the depot is on the flight path into Southampton Airport it can be a nice time view the various planes arriving.
Dave and Reg supply a paper list of the Locos, Units, Cocahes and wagons that are on site. I won't post the full list but for me the highlights were

To be really honest there were a LOT of really great things to see at Eastleigh works and I am definatly going to do it next year once or twice. Maybe even get a few of the people I converse with regularly to do a meet up there and do the tour.
I then visited the 'Spoons for lunch after about a 4.5 mile walk round the depot and taking 2.5 hours to do it. To be honest the 'Spoons must been having an off day as the meal I had was poor.
Back to the station and the return home.
1T46 Eastleigh to Woking 450102, 450046 non winners [49m 02 ch] as there were no direct trains to Clapham Junction
2p46 Woking to Clapham Junction 450029, 450119 non winners [20m 32ch]
Typically I missed the next train to Selhurst due to some rather slow people on the overbridge at Clapham so I caught the
2B80 Clapham Junction to Selhurst 377432, 377431 non winners [6m 60ch] and of course being the final leg of a hot day it was 10 mini=utes late.

All in all it was a good day out and worth the money.
