This was a mental reset for me. I needed the visit to my ancestral home.
Bold = Haulage, Red = Winner, All others are sightings.
Again the alarm went off at Stupid O'Clock and I was up, washed dressed and out walking to Croydon to get a really early train.
9R02 East Croydon to St Pancras International 700050 (non winner) [13m 40ch].
A brisk walk acroos the road to Kings Cross and I was in time for the earliest train I'd ever caught out of there. Usually I go for the 07:00 but instead I caught 1S04 Kings Cross to York 801219 (winner) ✅ [188m 40ch]. It was a lovely trip. Quite empty until it got to Doncaster. At York I alighted and went and got myself a chocolate bar to keep me going.
I had a bit of a wait but my next train was on time.
1U31 York to Scarborough 185125 (winner) ✅ [42m 06ch]
The journey was rather noisy but nevertheless on time.
Once there I did manage to get to a shop I wanted to go to and then still be in time for the X94 bus and it was a steal at £2 for the trip to Whitby.
Having met a matem had lunch and got a few bits I caught a slightly earlier bus at it had begun to rain lightly. At Scarborough I wanted to go and get a photo of the famous Scarborough Railway Station Bench. No sooner than when I got the photo my train started to arrive and cue the heavens opening. And what an awful downpour it was. By the time I'd grabbed a photo of the bench, the loco I was soaked through my coat and shirt.
1U64 Scarborough to York 68029 + TP12 (winner) ✅ [42m 06ch]. It was on the train I met a fellow enthusiast and railwayman. WHat better way to spend a trip back to York.
My next train was 1E19 York to Kings Cross 801207 (winner) ✅ [188m 40ch]. THe train was pretty packed but I did get a seat.
At Kings Cross I crossed over and caught 9S53 St Pancras International to East Croydon 700122 (non winner) [13m 40ch] and then final leg was 2J57 East Crpydon to Selhurst 377302, 377308 (non winners) [0m 77ch].
