Two Days Of Trains Pt.2: 14th Nay 2025.

Bold = Haulage, RED = Winner, All others are sightings.

Awake t stoopid O’Clock again. I had a train plan but I could change it up so I did. I was at the ‘Greggs’ at 06:20 to grab some breakfast but they didn’t open until 06:30. Once food was obtained it was to Glossop station. I never mentioned it in the last post but I like the station. It’s a nie stone building that you can see was a larger and more important than it is today. Today it is ALREADY GOT TEXT TO GLOSSOP STATION. I'm not used to do trains in the rush hour as mcu now as I used to. I decided to do a quick Contra Peak trip to trip to be on the same train I intended to catch from Glossop Originally. Therefore bagging the seat I wanted.
2G02 Glossop to Hadfield 323226 winner [1m 65]
Seems Imade a wise decision as Glossop platform was pretty busy.
2G43 Hadfield to Manchester Piccadilly 323226 non winner [14m 65ch]
By the time the train got to Piccadilly it was pretty much full. I had a deent connection time so I was able to take my time to get over to platorm 14 for my Merseyside train. Due to some able theft in the Doncaster area my train was running under a different headcode, not interesting to some but I liked it as t was a bit different.
1Z65 Manchester Piccadilly to Liverpool Lime Street 185139 non winner [34m 6ch]
Despite the earler problems it arrived in to Lime Street on time. When I was visiting there were some building works going on which meant the entry I usually use was blocked of meaning I went in a different way. A little confusing but all was well. I had decided to kill off the longest portion journey first thus if there were any issues I could bail out on the smaller ones an revisit sometime in the future. But firs I needed to get to Central.
2N10 Liverpool Lime Street to Liverpool Central 77025 non winner [om 42ch]
2S13 Liverpool Central to Southport 777032, 777029 winners [19m 10ch]
The day was warming up an the tran wasn't too busy which was a good thing. While on the way to Southport it seemed that the data feeds to Traksy and Realtime Trains failed so I was a bit blindsided as to what was running/cancelled etc. I had to do it all the old fashioned way. Luckily my train was on time and I pulled into Southport on time which allowed me to catch a slightly earlier train back to Sandhills. 2G18 Southpoprt to Sandhills 777026, 777038 winners [17m 02ch]
Sandhills station is a really good place to be able to catch the cl.777s. There are three sets of services passing through. The Southport, Headbolt Lane and Ormskirk services. Depending how long you spend there you should get quite a few 'spots'. My time there was a little limited.
2O20 Sandhills to Ormskirk 777005 winner [10m 62ch]
There wasn't a connection at Ormskirk that would allow me to catch a different unit back.
2U24 Ormskirk to Kildale 777025 non winner [9m 73ch]
Kildale is where the main depot for MerseyRal units. A visit here is not bad but you will need to have either a lonh lens 300mm or longer) or binoculars. Next was a irst trip on one of the Battery versions of the class 777.
2K23 Kildaale to Headbolt Lane 77715 winner [5m 37ch]
I had a 0 minute connction at Headbolt Lane, which according to he staf memember was possible if you are in the front carriage. Alas my one was just under a minute late soand I watched it depart as we pulled in. So same unit back then.
2F27 Headolt Lane to Sandhills 777152 non winner [6m 26ch]
THe day had becomevery hot and I was begininng to suffer. I couldn't see any hance of food for a while. My next bit the trip took me to the other end of the Southport like.
2U28 Sandhills to Hunts Cross 777051 winner [0m 51ch]
I can confirm tha there is a toilet on the MerseyRail platform at Hunts Cross but you have to press a buzzer to get into it. Also its not the best. If you need food and you are changing at Hunts Cross there is a Co-op about a 5 minutte walk away. Supplied with water, sandwich and a pasta pot I was ready to go back to Liverpool. Rather catch the MerseyRail i decided on the Northern Trains service.
1A52 Hunts Cross to Liverpool Lime Street 195132 winner [9m 51ch]

I toyed with the idea to returning to London via Manchester but it just didn't pan out. I did however manage a ride on another of the Avanti Enviro class 807s.

1A52 Liverpool Lime Street to Euston 807003 [193m 52ch]
On my journsye home I was woring out if I would meet the wife in London but seemed her train got in a lot later than I was getting in. I was just going to get to London and head home. Then the delays began. Also I found out that the last 350 I need for sight was out an about and would arrive in the Euston about 30 minutes before the wifes train arrived into Kings Cross. So I decided to just hang around at Euston and see the 350 anf met the wife.

At Euston I mnshed to see a few of the new cl. 807 and cl.805s. Tehen at 18:49 in rolled 350264 on 1Y56 from Birmingham New Street. A good end to the day.
A walk to Kings Cross to meet her then over the road for our train home.
