So the plan was London to Liverpool. Then to Bidston. Then to Wrexham. Then to Crewe. Then to London.
Well that WAS the plan!
What happened was not that. What actually happened was Storm Claudia.
Up at Stupid O'Clock and down to croydon for my first train.
9R02 East Croydon to St Pancras International 700116 non winner [13m 73 ch].
I walked down to Euston. It was a bit chilly but to be honest not stormy. I was aiming for a nice early train to make the most of my day.
1F11 Euston to Crewe 390127 non winner [158m 05 ch].
I set up alerts for Avanti West Coast, TfW and Network Rail on Twitter after my wife called me to tell me that teh news was giving out that Storm Claudia was to wreak devastation on the country the likes had never been seen before. THe train stopped just outside Crewe due to no available platform and we rolled in four minutes late.
Something in the back of the mind had told me to get off. Once off the train I looked at the departures board and there were a few delays. I had a decision to make. Carry on andpotentially get stranded or head back to London. I chose the later.
1A14 Crewe to Euston 805012 winner [158m 05ch].
Again the entire journey back there wasn't any bad weather to note but a late running local train caused a delay of about 9 minutes in to Euston. After a walk to St Pancras got me there in time to get my next train.
9S21 St Pancras International to Farringdon 700106 non winner [13m 40ch].
I got off at Farringdon as I noted that the last 345 (345053) was going to pass through there and it was a chance to tick it off finally.
Back upstairs and I head homewards.
9J23 Farringdon to East Croydon
Then on to the last leg
2J26 East Croydon to Selhurst 377304, 377312 non winners [0m 77ch].
Next morning i looked through and ALL the trains I had planned to get had run and were only a minumal amount of time late. I would have made all my connections easily. How very annoying.
