A Walk To Basford Hall in 2021 (Directions)

APPEARS THERE IS NO LONGER ACCESS TO THIS SITE
Recent emails said this:
"Problem us there is a massive new warehouse been built on that land now and I am unsure if you can still access that point."
"A friend and I asked if we could nip around the back of that new warehouse a few months ago and was told in no uncertain terms "absolutely no way" now disappear before we call the Police."
Thanks to Kev and Martin on Gen-Northern groups.

So on the 21st August 2021 I finally (after something like 30+ of being a rail enthusiast) travelled to Crewe and headed to Basford Hall. A report of the trains will appear later but for now I wanted to thank the guys on Facebook; Keith Hickman, Harry Bennellick and Paul Fliptop Philpott for their directions there. This post is to illustrate my trip. The walk was is about 30 minutes give or take 5 here and there.

Turn left outside station and left again which is Gresty Road, go past Crewe Alexandra's stadium. Continue to walk along to and past the YMCA.

Carry on and go under bridge, the DRS depot is is on the right. You cannot enter but I did walk up the access road to the gate and make a note of the locos stables (I actually took photos quickly as it was raining)

Continue along Gresty Road until you get to the first roundabout. This is where you can see Crewe Electric Depot. There are lots of stored 90s there too. They are located inside an industrial estate that has opening times so be weary of that. When I got there the security guard gave a glare and waved me away somewhat aggressively. Going on to Basford Hall you reach the second roundabout take the first exit and you are on the industrial estate with a large field on your left and a lorry terminal thing on the other side walk down until you are opposite the Panattoni. Harry said "I’m not sure if you can still walk on the field, Anyway, there are plenty of mounds to stand on, 90050 can be seen from the far mound on the right side of the field." When I was there there were no signs. I walked up the grassy embankment to the first mound.

Location of 90050 and 86251 in red and the mound in Blue. The lorry park and Panattoni locations are not on here as it appears this is an old satellite photo

The location this is on Jack Mills Way, Crewe, CW2 5AG.
