Class 360 - East Midlands Railway Units

Built in 2002-2003 the Siemens Desiro 4-car EMUs started on the UK tracks on First Great Eastern (later National Express East Anglia and Greater Anglia. When the new Class 720 Aventra were ordered and began being delivered the class 360s became surplus to requirements. Up popped East Midlands Railways with a new regular service from London to Corby called EMR Connect. Some of the units have been refurbished and to the EMR purple livery.

I know some of you think that the class 360s are rubbish but quite honestly I liked them. The regular standard seating is better than some nowadays I did feel they were comfortable and decent legroom. The patented Geoff Marshall 'elbow room on the window ledge' test was good as well.

Sadly there were no USB charging ports or three point sockets. I think EMR have missed a trick there. The aircon was blooming good after the heat of the day on the 16th July 2022. In fact it was the quality of the HVAC that caused me to stay on the train to Wellingborough 😂.

At the ends of the 360s there are deregulated first class compartments and very comfortable they are too.

The door were a little slow but no where near as bad as the cl.230s. The ride quality was pretty good but I know the Midland Mainline has been upgraded over the past few years but having travelled on other stock on the line I think this is the norm.
