Swinderby

Swinderby station is not that close to the village it is named after (about 25 minute walk). It's nearer HMP Morton Hall.
The station is managed by East Midlands trains. Swinderby is 8m 47ch from lincoln Central and is situated between Hykeham and Collingham.

Swinderby was opened on 3rd August 1946 as part of the Nottingham to Lincoln line. The station is a lovely one and only had limited facilities. I parked in the small car park on a Monday in mid morning. There was only about ten car in the car park but space for about 20.
Platform 1 is for the Lincoln Central bound trains and is built c.1850 of white brick and has Grade II listing.
Platform 2 is also Grade II listed and was built c.1850 of red bricks.
My favourite feature by far is the small signal box. A wooden structure that is Grade II listed and was opened in 1901. The station is a good location to take photos of passing trains be they EMR class 170s, LNER class 800/2s or class 66s on freight. THere is nothing there to get food or toilets and as I said the village is over a mile away.
